The project I keep wishing for is a 200W to 500W grid-tied inverter.
Any thoughts? |

What is a grid-tied inverter? Do you have any schematics on something even close to what you want? |

If I am not mistaken, a "grid-tied inverter" is one that generates power from a backop source (such as batteries, waterwheel, windmill, etc) but feeds it into the power utility supply, si one effectively sells power to the electricity company when one has a surplus.
I have recently been told that here in Sweden one is compelled to sell ALL generated power to the electricity company, then purchase back that which one needs to use. In this way you enjoy the privilege of paying energy taxes on your power, and giving your cost savings to the power company. Sounds strange to me!!
I would be interested in a "grid-tied inverter", but only for academic purposes. Synchronizing and levels would be a nice challenge.

Hi Harry, I did not imagine a "grid" may be used as a synonym to "network", but you are right ! I look for grids in pentodes ...
![]() Making solar power stations is a big fashion in Czechia now. Thanks to rich dotations, one gets about 10,- CZK per kilowatt-hour he sells to the electric power distributor, whilst he pays 4,- CZK per one kilowatt-hour he buys back. It is a nice job, secured for the next 20 years by law. Unfortunately, new applications for connecting solar power devices to the network are refused now. ![]() VBR from Ivan |

Ok
I was thinking valves(tubes in the USA) too. Yes, I would like to see a schematic for one but I don't think a person would ever be able to connect a home brewed one to the grid. Solar power is a big thing here in the US but not in my area as I live in the rain forest. LOL |
